Supporting Our Local Community
As a Shropshire author, I’ve always believed in supporting the local community whenever I can.
With the publication of my latest thriller, The Caretaker, I’m taking the opportunity to connect with local businesses and organisations and explore ways in which we can support one another.
I’m particularly keen to highlight the wonderful businesses and organisations that are part of the communities in which we live, work and write. Barratt Homes was my first local connection, followed by Kia Shrewsbury, and I’m delighted to be building these relationships as I look towards the publication of The Caretaker.
I’m also delighted that I’ll be holding a release party for The Caretaker at Wellington Library. Supporting our libraries is something that matters greatly to me. They remain such an important part of local communities, providing welcoming and accessible spaces for people to read, learn, meet and share ideas.
It feels particularly fitting to celebrate a new book in a library — a place at the very heart of the community.
For me, The Caretaker is therefore about more than the publication of a new novel. It’s also an opportunity to celebrate Shropshire, its businesses, its organisations and the people who make our local communities so special.
The Caretaker will be published in November 2026.

TELFORD HOME BUYERS GIFTED LOCAL AUTHORS’ NEW NOVEL

A Shropshire homebuilder has gifted signed copies of a local author’s most recent novel to the new residents on its development.
The novel, A Stranger in the Family, is Shropshire based Diane Saxon’s newly published psychological thriller and will be gifted to new residents at Barratt Homes’ Scarlet View development in Lawley. Like many of Diane’s stories, it is set in Shropshire, embodying the spirit of the region and its charms even as its characters face dire situations.
Diane said: “As a local author published by Boldwood Books, I’m thrilled to be part of this fantastic initiative. It’s a wonderful opportunity to introduce my books to new readers and share stories that are inspired by the local area, with many of them set in Lawley and the surrounding communities.
“I had a wonderful afternoon visiting the Scarlet View development, and it’s incredibly special to know that my books are on display in the Barratt Homes show home and will be gifted to new Barratt homeowners. It’s a real privilege to see my stories become part of such an exciting new chapter for local families.”
Joanne Winston, Sales Director at Barratt Homes West Midlands, said: “We were very excited to partner with Diane and share her fantastic novels. We always try to make our buyers feel right at home immediately and there’s no better way to relax than with a good book.
“It’s a brilliant opportunity not only to celebrate local Telford talent, but also to share pieces of the local community with new residents as they settle in.”
Scarlet View is located Proctor Avenue in Lawley, Telford, with shops, schools and family amenities in proximity.
The town centre, only two miles away, offers a range of retail and entertainment, including Telford Shopping Centre with a bowling alley, arcade, IMAX cinema and numerous restaurants.
